This week in literacy, we will…

  • Learn to add -ing to the end of verbs to show that something is happening now

  • Add -ed to the end of verbs to show that something already happened

  • Think about how to spell words correctly when you add the suffix -ed

  • Read a book titled, Oh, Good! by Judith E. Nayer during shared reading. We will retell major events that occurred in the story and infer the characters' feelings. We will also notice word endings and understand the meaning of new words

  • Read a poem titled, On Top of Spaghetti. We will highlight verbs with -ed endings in the poem

  • Participate in Heggerty Phonemic Awareness Lessons

In Writing this week, we will… 

  • Continue our Poetry Unit

  • Discuss alliteration, rhyme, and rhythm 

  • Understand the poetry elements of personification and similes 

  • Write our own poems


In math this week, we will… 

  • Read and write numerals to 120

  • Compare pairs of 2-digit numbers

  • Add with sums to 100

  • Explain the reasoning behind a strategy used to add with sums to 100

  • Express the length of an object as a whole number of units

  • Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them

  • Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others

  • Order 3 objects by length and compare the lengths of 2 objects indirectly by comparing the length of each to a third object


In Social Studies this week, we will finish our Our Country unit.  We will…

  • Research and create a poster on one of the symbols we learned about and present it to the class
