This week in literacy, we will…
Use context to understand connected text
Understand that words have more than one meaning
Read a book titled, Antonio and the Firefly by June Schwartz. While reading, we will adjust our voices to reflect dialogue and punctuation. We will also recognize words ending in -ed to make a word past tense and plural nouns ending in -s. We will discuss the big ideas (messages) in the story.
Infer the main character's feelings and use those inferences while writing in their Reader's Notebooks.
Read a poem titled, Little Robin Redbreast
Participate in Heggerty Phonemic Awareness Lessons
In Writing this week, we will…
Continue our Narrative Writing Unit
Focus on adding details about our characters feelings and emotions
Use our Writing “Superpowers” to work effectively and efficiently during writing time
Have a Punctuation Party in which we check for periods, question marks, and exclamation points
Create our Cereal box to make a "boxed set" for our series!
